Where to BINGE in 2015: Drink Well, Do Good

If you are familiar with Binge Magazine, you know that when we say Binge we mean it in the best way possible, and 2015 is no different. We also Binge on giving back and doing good, so we couldn’t resist sharing with you some of the best places to eat, drink and donate this year. It’s as simple as ordering a cocktail, a burger, or rounding up your bill. After all, cutting ALL the indulgences out of your life is no fun, so why not feel good about ordering that drink? Make sure to share your photos/thoughts with us via social media when you visit any of the following places!

{We encourage you all to donate in any way possible this year, and thank each of these venues/brands for reminding us that giving back IS fun!}

Donate: the remainder of your bill at Level Two to Lurie Children’s Hospital. Located on the second floor of the Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile, Level Two is running a Change for Hope campaign to encourage guests to round up the change on their bill at the end of the meal. All extra “Change for Hope” is donated directly to Lurie Children’s Hospital across the street from the restaurant as a greater Room for Hope hotel-wide campaign to support Lurie patients and their families.

Sip: a “Home Sweet Home” cocktail at BIG Bar and give back to Ronald McDonald House. For every purchase of one of its in-house cocktails Home Sweet Home (Absolut Mango, St. Germain, Mango Puree and sour mix), BIG Bar is donating a portion of the proceeds to Ronald McDonald House near the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital. Having a cocktail and drinking it, too, can now be considered an act of charitable kindness!

Eat: a specialty burger at DMK Burger Bar and raise money for their “365 Days of Giving” Partner of the month. This 365 Days of Giving program returns in 2015, as DMK Burger Bar teams up with a different local non-profit organization every month to help raise funds and educate on their behalf. In January they partner with Purple Asparagus, whose mission is to educate Chicago children, families, and communities about eating what is good for the body and the planet by bringing nutritious hands-on adventures to schools, community organizations, and farmers’ markets throughout Chicagoland. DMK also has a specialty item for purchase that will contribute back to Purple Asparagus in January 2015, which is The Rooster: grilled chicken sandwich with pico de gallo, pepperjack cheese, and guacamole.

Drink: Branded Spirits’ Ice Fox Vodka or its Motu Rum to raise money (and awareness) for two exceedingly important global causes. Ice Fox is a 100% American product that has been triple-distilled from premium American ingredients, and whose profits from the sale go in part to the World Wildlife Fund protecting the shrinking population of Artic Foxes that inspired the product. Meaning “Island” in Tongan, Motu is rested in French Oak and created using Polynesian sugar cane molasses – and a portion of profits from its sale is donated to the Coral Reef Alliance to help preserve the pristine coral reefs of the South Pacific. Branded Spirits’ Ice Fox vodka and Motu rum can be purchased in Chicagoland at Cardinal Wine & Spirits (multiple locations throughout Chicago area), Tony’s Finer Foods (multiple locations throughout Chicago area), Brookhaven Market (located in Darien, Mokena, and Burr Ridge, IL), among many other individual liquor stores.
