Details: “On your mark, get, set, GO! Move one-step closer to a cure at the 21st Annual ABC 7 Gibbons 5K and 3K Walk presented by Takeda Oncology. Join more than 2,000 Chicagoans will run or walk at Chicago’s Grant Park on Thursday, June 18, 2015 to benefit the Leukemia Research Foundation (LRF). The event was created to honor the memory of Jim Gibbons, a 25-year veteran investigative reporter for ABC 7 who succumbed to leukemia in 1994.
Enjoy a fun evening exercising in beautiful downtown Chicago, while helping to save the lives of those who suffering from blood cancers. Join fellow racers and learn about why they are running at the party in the park, which will follow the race with food, refreshments and beer along with live music from Pop Rocks! A special Heroes of Hope tent dedicated to honoring patients and Survivors provides an opportunity for those touched by blood cancers to gather. All blood cancer patients and survivors are invited to join us at our Heroes of Hope Tent for complimentary refreshments and activities. In addition, from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm there will be a special Kids Tent with refreshments and activities including, arts and crafts for the little ones.
An awards ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. where the top three male and female runners will receive a commemorative medal. Medals will also be handed out to the top 3 male and female runners in each age category. Gear check will also be available on-site.”
