So long, sweet Summer! With dining options changing like the leaves on the trees, you may need to be pointed in the right direction of where to dine this Fall. Allow us to introduce to you Fig & Olive– Chicago’s taste of the Mediterranean.

Let’s Eat!

(Important note: Executive Chef Pascal Lorange’s menu highlights the unique olive oils, paired with each dish and used in place of butter.)

It’s been said that some of the best food in the World can be found in the Riviera & Coastal regions of the South of France, Italy and Spain, while most of us don’t have the chance to experience that first hand, the menu at Fig & Olive brings it to us without having to leave the city. Made with very defined detail to flavors, each item on the menu is perfectly balanced to give you the most mouth-watering, satisfying meal of your life. Menu items are diverse, with something for everyone, and the staff is fantastic at recommending dishes and explaining in divine detail what to expect.

Let’s start with the Crostini, shall we?

Made to perfection, the crostini is the perfect meal starter. Paired with a specialty cocktail, you can’t go wrong. Beautifully executed, both taste-wise and appearance-wise, the crostini may be my favorite menu item! There are plenty of different crostini items to choose from including:

Bresaola, Gorgonzola Dolce, Almond
Prosciutto, Ricotta, Fig, Olive, Walnut
Cured Salmon, Radish, Cucumber Yogurt, Dill
Crab, Heirloom Tomato, Avocado, Apple Aioli
Octopus, Cherry Tomato, Heirloom Carrot Purée
Shrimp, Avocado, Cilantro, Tomato
Burrata, Tomato, Herbs, Balsamic
Goat Cheese, Caramelized Onion, Chive
Manchego, Fig, Marcona Almond
Mushroom, Artichoke, Scallion, Parmesan
Cucumber, Shallot, Yogurt

Moving On!

Did I mention the cocktails? On top of a fantastic wine list, you’ll find the Signature Cocktails menu- these are not to be missed! With fresh ingredients, perfect mixtures, and attention to balance, these cocktails are definitely one-of-a-kind. To get the Fig & Olive experience, try THE FIG & OLIVE cocktail; Cucumber infused vodka, blood orange olive oil,egg white, simple syrup, celery, lime juice,blood orange puree– Don’t let the ingredients throw you off, this cocktail is light and refreshing. Perfect with any dish!

Another favorite of mine (pictured above with The Fig & Olive) is the ARUGULA SMASH; Rum with muddled celery and arugula, lemon juice,simple syrup and black pepper. A delicious cocktail that pairs perfectly with your choice of Crostini.

For my red wine drinkers: Without question, order the SP Tempranillo – Valserrano, Crianza 12 Rioja, 2010 (Perfect Balance of Red Fruit, Fine Tannin) This wine went perfectly with the next part of my meal.

Speaking of the rest of my meal…

The fresh and light ingredients used at Fig & Olive leave you longing for more, but without over-doing it. After these next few items (no, I did not eat ALL of each item myself ;)) I felt completely satisfied in the best way possible…without feeling “stuffed” or like I couldn’t move.

MELONE & BURRATA:
Burrata, cantaloupe, kumato tomato, radicchio
micro-arugula, basil olive oil emulsion

Seared scallops seasoned with orange spice

Cremini mushroom, parmesan, béchamel
Truffle Olive Oil aioli

GOAT CHEESE RAVIOLI & ZUCCHINI BLOSSOM:
House made goat cheese ravioli, zucchini emulsion
tomato confit, crispy zucchini blossom with parmesan and
shaved ricotta salata – Arbequina Olive Oil

ROSEMARY LAMB CHOPS:
Grilled, smoked à la minute with a bouquet of Herbs de Provence, goat cheese & chive gnocchi
roasted honey, thyme eggplant – Rosemary Garlic Olive Oil
